On September 20, 2016, ACTA sent a letter to the Kansas Board of Regents expressing disappointment with the University of Kansas’ decision to terminate Assistant Professor of Communication Studies Andrea Quenette. We wrote, “The University’s statement claiming that the termination is ‘not related to the claims of discrimination raised to the Office of Institutional Opportunity & Access’ is one that should be examined closely, especially since other faculty members have in fact expressed skepticism, believing instead that Quenette’s comments may have impacted the decision.” ACTA also urged the board to adopt the Chicago Principles on Freedom of Expression.
