ACTA Writes to Alaska Regents on Accreditation

The University of Alaska Board of Regents is considering a proposal to examine whether single accreditation or three separate accreditations would be best for the system. ACTA recently sent a letter to the board urging it to review the benefits of single accreditation, given the success of institutions such as Arizona State University and Pennsylvania State University. Accreditation can be a burdensome and expensive process, and it is our worry that by failing to examine the successes that several other institutions have had in moving to or maintaining a single accreditation, the Alaska system will be forced to take on the additional administrative costs, costs which may be passed on to the students and taxpayers of Alaska.
