The National Alumni Forum is changing its name, but not its focus.
The forum was created in 1995 to encourage alumni to use their gifts in support of academic freedom (and in opposition to what the forum sees as political correctness). In January 1998, it will become the American Council of Trustees and Alumni. But little else will change.
“In spite of our expanded work with trustees, the millions of alumni who care about their colleges remain the heart and soul of the organization,” says the forum’s newsletter, “Inside Academe.”
Launched in 1995, we are the only organization that works with alumni, donors, trustees, and education leaders across the United States to support liberal arts education, uphold high academic standards, safeguard the free exchange of ideas on campus, and ensure that the next generation receives an intellectually rich, high-quality college education at an affordable price.
